The challenge
Dunlap has designed network and surveillance environments for three storage properties: a five-acre RV facility with approximately 200 spaces, a five-acre facility with approximately 300 storage containers, and a three-acre property with approximately 150 storage units. Two were existing operating properties, while the third was a new facility. Storage properties create unusual infrastructure requirements. Buildings are distributed across large areas, traditional cabling paths may be impractical, Wi-Fi must reach operationally important locations, and cameras need to provide useful views, not simply produce video. Management also needs to administer the environment remotely and retrieve useful information when an incident occurs.
